Cornerstone Christian Academy Hosts NC Indoor Regional

Cornerstone Christian Academy, a mainstay of the Statesville, North Carolina community, recently completed a state-of-the-art addition to the campus, the Crosswhite Sports Complex. North Carolina S3DA staff worked with Cornerstone Christian Academy to host an Indoor Regional at the new facility, which drew approximately 119 archers from eight North Carolina S3DA teams. The turnout for this inaugural event was absolutely incredible! The Crosswhite Sports Complex will allow North Carolina S3DA to accommodate a large number of archers while providing a top-notch facility that enhances the overall experience for both participants and spectators. Appalachian Archers Coach, John Brunette, praised the new complex, saying, “These kids loved the facility and having a lot of room to shoot was wonderful. Everyone had a good time.”

North Carolina S3DA State Coordinator, Chris Poston added, “This was the first time our archers got to shoot at Cornerstone. This venue gives us the capability to put sixty-four archers on the line at one time, which is a game changer for us. The facility has great lighting and there are tons of room for the archers and spectators. You could hear the archers commenting throughout the day on how nice it was to have the ability to move around.”

Bobby Griffith, Head Coach and Athletic Director of Cornerstone Chistian Academy, shared his excitement: “This has been in the works for a couple of years. We are very pleased to have our gymnasium open now and available to host sporting events. It was very exciting to be able to host our first archery tournament, and we look forward to many more.”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic 3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
