Kubas Private Pond License Review Draft EA A private landowner is applying for a Private Fish Pond License and proposes to stock largemouth bass in an unnamed private pond. The pond is 0.5 surface acre and is located at 60 Eaton Avenue in Great Falls. The pond is spring fed by a ground spring with no inlet or outlet flow. Risk of escapement is low during high moisture events given there is no inlet or outlet. During extreme events, it is possible water could flow by ditch or overland approximately 1.5 miles to Sand Coulee Creek, which is a tributary to the Missouri River. There are currently no fish in the pond and no documented Montana Species of Special Concern in the pond or in Sand Coulee Creek. Largemouth bass are present within the Missouri River drainage both upstream and downstream of Great Falls. The project is sponsored by the private landowner and the license would be active for a period of 10 years from the year of issuance (2025). The license can be renewed for additional 10-year intervals at the end of each term and the license is transferable. Comment deadline: Jan. 17 |
