Pope and Young to Begin Accepting Bison from the Fort Peck Reservation

The Pope and Young Club, North America’s premier bowhunting conservation organization is excited to announce that the Board of Directors has unanimously approved a recommendation from the Records Committee to allow trophy bison taken from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation into their Records Program. This reservation is in the Northwest portion of Montana and is the newest boundary area where bison can be accepted.

“Pope and Young is excited to welcome the addition of the Fort Peck Reservation bison into our Records Program,” stated Justin Spring, Executive Director. “We applaud and recognize the efforts by Fort Peck to restore this iconic American species, and for that reason we are excited to allow them into the Records Program.”

“As the Records Committee Chairman, it is my job to ensure our records are properly maintained, our measurers are trained and continually updated, and that I thoroughly investigate and explore new potential areas that have huntable populations of North American big game. More importantly, these potential areas are professionally managed by wildlife officials and their management plan follows our rules of Fair Chase. The Fort Peck Indian Reservation fulfilled all the requirements needed to support accepting bison into our records program. Additionally, this will allow more opportunity for bowhunters to pursue this iconic symbol of the West,” stated Roy E. Grace, Records Chairman.
