Mossberg Releases 940 Pro Tactical Professional Series Semi-Automatic Shotgun

Mossberg has introduced a Professional Series of shotguns and rifles. Mossberg continues to refine their duty-ready platforms as these firearms undergo an enhanced assembly and quality control process, are equipped with special finishes and features, and are built for function helping to optimize these firearms. Introducing the 940 Pro Tactical Professional Series 12-gauge, 8-shot autoloader, a true tactical shotgun.

The 940 Pro Tactical Professional Series shotgun is based on Mossberg’s cleaner-running 940 Pro gas-operating system that allows for longer cleaning intervals and smooth, reliable operation. Internal parts (gas piston, magazine tube, hammer, and sear) feature a nickel-boron coating and special finishes for ease of maintenance and wear resistance. For added durability, the receiver, barrel, and magazine tube feature industry-recognized Cerakote® Tungsten finish. This polymer-ceramic coating provides added corrosion and superior abrasion resistance.

Standard features of the 940 Pro Tactical include an optic-ready receiver for direct mounting of micro dot optics; drilled and tapped receiver; enlarged and beveled loading port; elongated, pinch-free elevator; bright orange anodized follower; and extended magazine tube with 8-round total capacity (2.75-inch shells). The durable synthetic stock is self-draining and has a user-adjustable length-of-pull with a range of 12.5 – 14.25 inches with the use of inserts. Further adjustability is provided for drop at comb and cast with the use of incremental stock shims and the grip area features Mossberg’s signature aggressive texturing. Completing the stock is a rear swivel sling stud.

Updated Features of the new 940 Pro Tactical Professional Series:

  • An innovative forend design that features integrated heat shield, two QD cups, three M-LOK® mounting slots (3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions), and Mossberg’s signature texturing.
  • Stabilizing barrel clamp with two-sided M-LOK mounting slots and swivel studs.
  • Two QD mounting cups on stock (right and left) allow the sling mount to be positioned in 90-degree increments (3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions).
  • Rear Ghost Ring and front fiber optic sights with protective, low-profile wings for ease of racking/unracking in cruisers. Remove the Ghost Ring sight and the receiver is optic ready for the direct mounting of micro dot sights.
  • Adapter plates provided for optic-ready receiver for mounting RMR®, Docter™, and Leupold® footprints to the optic cut in the receiver which is covered by certain patents and patent pending.
  • Redesigned, durable and oversized fire control system with metal trigger guard, knurled charging handle, and ergonomic bolt release with quick-empty unloading feature.
  • Redesigned, oversized ambidextrous safety.
  • Redesigned one-piece magazine tube for ease of maintenance and improved reliability. Magazine spring is retained for ease of removing and attaching barrel.
  • A detachable sleeve protects the magazine tube and secures forend.

For decades, Mossberg 500®/590®/590A1™ shotguns have been carried and relied upon by military and law enforcement worldwide.
