Scholastic 3-D Archery Names Wayne Hayes as Kansas State Coordinator

Williamsburg, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery is pleased to announce Wayne Hayes as the new Kansas S3DA State Coordinator. Wayne will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Kansas, including promoting the program across the state to gain team and individual memberships, providing training for new coaches, dividing the state into regions, and placing regional coordinators to oversee and manage those individual regions. Wayne decided to join the S3DA program because he wants to see an increase in awareness and opportunities for youth to participate in archery in Kansas. As a short-term goal, he plans to work with local archery shops, schools, churches, and other groups across the state to help sponsor or host local tournaments. He also has a goal to establish at least four new S3DA Teams by the Fall of 2025.

Wayne was born and raised in Liberty, Missouri. Upon returning from the U.S. Marine Corps, he met his wife Angie and moved to Kansas, where they have resided for over twenty years. They have three children, a daughter-in-law and a grandson. While growing up, Wayne found interest in the outdoors and became an avid hunter and fisherman. A tradition that he has passed on to his children.

Wayne is currently a 4-H Archery Instructor, S3DA Coach, USA Archery Level II Coach, and USA Archery Level II Judge.

Wayne noticed that over the year he’s coached his daughters, there seemed to be a decrease in youth participation in the sport of archery. While coaching at the local, regional, state and national competitions, he had the opportunity to meet some really great archers. He wants to be able to give these archers in Kansas the experience and knowledge they need to advance in the sport of archery. With this position, Wayne wants to provide these young archers with the education and training to allow them the possibility of furthering their education while shooting at the collegiate level.

Wayne said that he feels very blessed to have been able to coach both of his daughters, Kylie and Brooklyn, to NFAA National Championships and numerous other regional and state titles. Wayne is currently a member of Tri-County Rod & Gun Club and Vice President of Ottawa Cyclones Archery Club. As a member of the Ottawa Cyclones Club, he was heavily involved in establishing a new and up-to-date archery range. Wayne is very excited to get started and encourages anyone interested in the Kansas S3DA program to reach out to him directly (hayesS3DA.KS@gmail.com).
