Williamsburg, KY – Flint River Archery Club held an Outdoor Target Regional at Big Hollow Recreation Area in Sperry, Iowa. Archers from three S3DA teams participated in the event. It had rained quite a bit in the days leading up to the tournament, so the ground was a bit wet and mushy. When the competition began, the field got pretty muddy with everyone walking back and forth to retrieve their arrows from the targets. However, the archers didn’t let the muddy conditions stop them from shooting and having a blast.
“The forecast had originally called for rain, but the day of the tournament actually turned out to be quite beautiful. The archers did have to deal with some strong winds, but they persevered. It was really nice to see all the kids get together and just have fun shooting their bows and playing in the mud. Personally, the camaraderie is what I love the most about this sport,” stated Iowa S3DA State Coordinator, Denissa Cornick.
Crooked Creek Archery Coach, Jeff Hudgens said, “Despite the wet, muddy conditions, I really liked the layout of the field and the targets. Big Hollow Recreation Area is a beautiful venue and a premiere outdoor recreation destination. They are always so accommodating, and we are very thankful for their support.”
