Mount Vernon Public Boat Ramp Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Set for January 30

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, state and local representatives will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the Mount Vernon Public Boat Ramp located just east of Mount Vernon in south Alabama. The event will take place at 2 p.m. The media and public are invited to attend.

The facility was temporarily closed in August 2024 for a major renovation that included a new two-lane launching slab and a new 170-foot floating access pier. The parking area was also expanded and a new weigh-in pavilion was constructed to accommodate expanded access to outdoor recreation and fishing tournaments on the Mobile River.

The ribbon cutting event will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The boat ramp is located approximately 1 mile east of Mount Vernon, Alabama, at 2650 State Landing Road.

About Mount Vernon Public Boat Ramp

Mount Vernon is one several public boat ramps operated by ADCNR that offer access to outdoor recreation on one of Alabama’s premier boating and fishing destinations – the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. The facility features a new two-lane launching slab, 170-foot floating access pier, weigh-in station, and an expanded parking area. Mount Vernon Public Boat Ramp is also Americans with Disability Act (ADA) accessible.

This boating access improvement project was completed through a partnership between ADCNR, the Town of Mount Vernon, and Mobile County. The project was funded by ADCNR from Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funds.
