Help Plan the Future of the Apalachee Wildlife Management Area

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites you to attend the Apalachee Wildlife Management Area 10-year Land Management Plan public hearing on Wednesday, August 7. The public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners Board Room, 2864 Madison St., Marianna, Fla., 32448.

Apalachee WMA offers year-round opportunities for outdoor recreation. Hunts occur over limited periods between October and April. Pleasant temperatures in the fall, winter and spring provide the best times to hike, bike and horseback ride; watch for migratory birds in the spring and fall. Outstanding plant diversity (including some rare species) and seasonal wildflowers attract plant and butterfly enthusiasts.

To obtain a copy of the draft elements of the Management Plan, contact Cedar Spirk, FWC Land Conservation Planner, via phone at (386) 243-2379 or email at Cedar.Spirk@MyFWC.com.

The public is encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to comment on and ask questions regarding the Land Management Plan. Maps, drawings and other information will be available on display.

For more information regarding this and other upcoming public hearings, visit MyFWC.com/Conservation then click “Terrestrial Conservation” and “Management.” Hunting and fishing regulations will not be included in this plan or public hearing; they are addressed through a separate public process.
