Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry to Kick Off Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo

Delta CEO Dr. Scott Petrie will be joined by Landry and the Secretary of LDWF on Friday to conduct the opening ceremonies of Delta’s third-annual Duck Hunters Expo

When the Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo begins, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Madison Sheahan, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, will join Dr. Scott Petrie in welcoming waterfowlers from across the continent to the great state of Louisiana.

Gov. Landry will open the Expo during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:45 a.m. on Friday in the main lobby of the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“We are honored that Gov. Landry and Secretary Sheahan will be joining us at our opening ceremony,” said Dr. Scott Petrie, chief executive officer for Delta Waterfowl. “Our board of directors, staff, volunteers, members, and donors have a deep appreciation for the collective passion of these leaders and cherish their unified commitment to ensuring that Louisiana’s wetlands and rich waterfowl heritage will be enjoyed by future generations.”

Landry assumed office in January as the state’s 57th governor and is a passionate waterfowler and astute outdoorsman. Prior to his role as governor, he served as a congressional representative for Louisiana from 2011 to 2013, and later as the 45th Attorney General of Louisiana from 2016 to 2024. Last month, Landry signed Act 114 into law, legislation that will increase revenue in a fund for waterfowl management by $375,000 annually.

“There is nothing better than duck hunting here in Louisiana,” Landry said. “We are called Sportsman’s Paradise for a reason, and I hope everyone at the Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo is able to enjoy and share the appreciation we all have for Louisiana’s deep hunting heritage.”

Prior to serving the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Sheahan worked for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem in various leadership positions. In Louisiana, she is focused on serving the Sportsman’s Paradise through protecting and conserving Louisiana’s natural resources for all those who hunt, fish, and recreate.

“We are proud to see our Sportsman’s Paradise serve as this year’s host state for the Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo,” Sheahan said. “With our marshy waters and grassy plains, Louisiana hosts some of the best waterfowl hunting in the U.S., but this would not be possible without our strong partnership with Delta Waterfowl and the thousands of duck hunters across the nation all working to conserve the future of waterfowl hunting. We hope that all those visiting enjoy the expo and take the time to see what our Sportsman’s Paradise has to offer.”

Delta’s 2024 Expo, which is presented by Federal Premium Ammunition, moves to Louisiana after two years of success in Little Rock, Arkansas, bringing in more than 23,500 participants. It’s a major celebration, bringing together a who’s who of the waterfowl hunting world.

The Expo’s 120,000-square-foot show floor in Baton Rouge is loaded with hundreds of exhibits, where you can find all the gear you’ll need for the upcoming hunting season. The Expo’s many attractions include the Duck Dog Stage presented by Eukanuba and Lucky Duck, the Duck Hunters Stage presented by Benelli and Realtree, and the Field-to-Table Stage presented by BOSS Shotshells and First Lite. In addition, the Expo features a Duck Dog Parade, Callmakers Championship, the Delta Grand National Double Reed Calling Competition, and the Duck Hunters Grand Banquet.
