NWTF applauds Eichinger as new Michigan DNR director

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The Michigan State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation applauds Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s appointment of Dan Eichinger as director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

“Dan and I have known each other for a few years now, even working together when I was director of the DNR in Michigan and he was working for the DNR on legislative issues,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “He is an incredibly bright and articulate man, and he has a passion for the outdoors. I know he will do a phenomenal job as director of the Michigan DNR.”

Eichinger has an extensive background working within the conservation arena for the sportsmen and women of Michigan. Previously, Eichinger worked as Michigan United Conservation Clubs’ executive director and also has held positions with the Michigan DNR, Central Michigan University and the office of the lieutenant governor.

“We are excited to work with Dan in his new role as the director of the DNR and are confident that he will work diligently toward the conservation and protection of our state’s world-class resources and the preservation of our hunting heritage,” said Art Pelon, NWTF Michigan State Chapter president. “Dan brings a breadth of experience to this role, and we are excited to work together to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.”

Whitmer recently stated in a press release, “Dan is a trusted leader in the conservation of Michigan’s abundant natural resources and outdoor heritage. He has the broad experience needed to bring innovative ideas and also successful implementation of conservation efforts and recreation opportunities here in the state.”
