This year, a record 63 local governments representing 4.1 million Michiganders have been recognized for their sustainability and environmental efforts through the Michigan Green Communities challenge. The communities were awarded bronze, silver, gold or platinum seals to show their achievements in energy efficiency, climate adaptation and resilience, recycling, environmental justice and more.
Michigan Green Communities is a free program open to all local governments in the state. The goals include protecting infrastructure, improving quality of life and making Michigan more environmentally and economically sustainable.
