BEAVERTON, Ore. — Leupold & Stevens, Inc., provider of the world’s most rugged, lightweight, and clear sport optics, is pleased to announce that its RX-5000 TBR/W laser rangefinder has received a Golden Bullseye Award for ‘Gear of the Year’ from American Hunter magazine, an official journal of the National Rifle Association.
The Golden Bullseye Awards, now in their 23rd year, recognize the firearm industry’s top products as voted on by the editors of NRA Publications. To qualify for consideration for a Golden Bullseye Award, the product must have been tested by an NRA Staff member or regular contributor, prove to be reliable in the field, meet or exceed the evaluator’s expectations, innovative in design and function, and readily perceived as a value to the purchaser.
“Most times while hunting, I don't need all the technology housed within it, except for its basic rangefinding function,” American Hunter Field Editor Jeff Johnston said in his November 2024 review of the RX-5000, “But if I do need it, I like knowing it's there. All in all, I don't believe there's a better handheld rangefinder on the market specifically built for hunters."
The RX-5000 TBR/W is the rangefinder for the modern hunter. It delivers an incredible 5,000-yard ranging distance and is packed with other new features. What truly sets it apart is its integration with the also-new Leupold Control app, which uses GPS technology to remotely drop location pins to your phone using digital maps like onX Hunt.
Pinning is established through use of the Leupold Control app, which is free for download in App stores. The Leupold Control app allows you to drop pins in compatible mapping systems–onX Hunt, Google Maps, and Apple Maps–and adjust the settings on your RX-5000.
“The RX-5000 combines an industry-leading rangefinding engine with our Pinning technology, which is a game-changer for the hardcore backcountry hunter,” said Bruce Pettet, President and Chief Executive Officer for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “We’re proud that the staff of American Hunter–a magazine that speaks to the very core of the hunting community–have recognized the RX-5000’s unparalleled performance.”
