Cadets from the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU) have won their 5th Championship title in the last nine matches at this elite combat style 3Gun competition held at the SIG Academy in New Hampshire. The CCMU team won against 126 competitors from the United States Service Academies, the Senior Military Colleges, the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academy’s and the Royal Military College of Canada.

The cadets won four of six stages, (four of which were multi-gun stages, and two each of pistol and rifle,) all of the field courses, and the long-range rifle stage. CCMU cadets placed four shooters in the Top Six competitors (1, 2, 5 & 6) including the High Overall competitor (senior Shiloh Lewis) and the second-place finisher, as well. Two junior class cadets also finished 8th and 12th, giving CCMU 6 competitors (out of ten attending) in the Top 12 at the match. CCMU cadets fired a mix of rifles donated by team sponsors from Fold-AR, SIG SAUER and Gemtech fitted with Primary Arms 1-6x optics and pistols fitted with the outstanding Steiner MPS optic. Match grade rifle and pistol ammunition was provided by Orr Tactical of Needville, Texas and Global Ordinance of Sarasota, Florida.

The senior cadet that placed 1st overall in the competition, Shiloh Lewis ’25, fired a 16” carbine donated to CCMU by Fold-AR of Henderson, Texas.

This year’s competition was tougher based on the continued rise in performance of the teams from the Senior Military Colleges who traditionally have not fired these sorts of competitions. The cadets from Virginia Tech finished a very impressive third place (only the second SMC to finish in the top three in match history) and they were followed closely by cadets from Citadel at 4th and University of North Georgia at 5th. The impressive win adds to the overall winning opus of the CCMU that includes finishing 16th of 36 at the TTPOA Texas SWAT Championship, winning the SASP National Championship, (breaking three college record scores in the process) and firing over 95% on the very difficult Operator Standards at the Mid-South Institute.

Head Coach Kevin Jimmerson ’89 of North Zulch, TX, remarked that “This is a program win for my cadets. Due to the elite challenge of this match, it takes seniors to win…of my cadets, only one has ever shot in competition before joining the team. This win speaks to their work ethic, their embrace of our team culture and motto “Omnis Gloria Fluxa” and the assistance I receive from our Team Advisor Gunny John Regan, USMC (ret) and Assistant Coach Dave Reichek ’96.”
