The Tree Stand Safety Awareness (TSSA) Foundation is pleased to announce that Megan Fedrick (pictured), Director of Operation for the International Hunter Education Association-USA, has been selected as a new member of the Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation Board representing IHEA-USA.
Megan has spent a quarter century working in wildlife conservation. She began her career as a fisheries biologist and officer in the Mississippi Delta managing public waterways, providing technical assistance to landowners, and enforcing wildlife and fisheries regulations. She transitioned from fisheries to the role of an outreach educator and eventually the Director of Education for the MS Museum of Natural Science. Megan spent six years training conservation officer cadets at the state training academy, as well as administering the Hunter Education program for the state. She oversaw the management of the state shooting ranges and served as Mississippi’s Boating Law Administrator. She worked intensively with training officers on investigating hunting and boating-related incidents. In 2021, Megan became the first female law enforcement Major in her agency’s 90-year history.
In her current role with IHEA-USA, Megan oversees the daily operations of programs and partner relationships, including budget and resource management. Additionally, she manages the IHEA Hunting Incident Investigation Academies and the IHEA Hunting Incident Database.
“I am excited to join the TSSA Board of Directors. IHEA is dedicated to implementing safety standards and standardizing incident investigation and reporting. Working closely with TSSA will help us enhance and further our mission, said Megan.
“Megan will bring a different lens to the Board with her amazing background, passion for hunter safety, and will be a great conduit to all the state wildlife agencies, said Glen Mayhew, President of the TSSA Foundation.”
