Flint River Archery Club Hosts Iowa S3DA 3D Regional Tournament

The Flint River Archery Club recently held an Iowa S3DA 3D Regional Tournament in conjunction with the Iowa ASA Federation at the Big Hollow Recreation Area in Sperry, Iowa. Tournament staff was concerned about the weather as it had been consistently rainy in the Midwest region of Iowa, but it turned out to be a beautiful day to sling some arrows. The range officials and tournament staff did a great job with signage and making sure that archers and their families could easily find their way around the course. They also provided plenty of water coolers to keep everyone hydrated. Every archer that participated in the S3DA portion of the event received one free entry into a drawing. Two winners were drawn and received a Lancaster Archery Supply gift card.

Parent, Jered Grant stated, “The range was set beautifully, I really liked the variety in the terrain. There was a great mix of downhill shots and flat shots. It is something that every archer needs to experience, especially if they not only want to shoot archery but want to hunt.”

Iowa S3DA State Coordinator, Denissa Cornick said, “Our club is really growing, and participation numbers continue to rise for our regional events. Witnessing the impressive turnout of archers was truly remarkable! A record-breaking number of youth archers participated in this 3D shoot at Big Hollow, surpassing all of the previous attendance numbers. We are hoping that we will be able to set up two full 3D ranges soon, as we continue to expand. We want to thank the Iowa ASA Federation for their amazing support of youth archery and for allowing S3DA to participate alongside ASA!”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
