Whitetails Unlimited recently granted $10,411 to Howard County Conservation Board in Howard County, Iowa. The Howard County Conservation Board (HCCB) was authorized by a vote of the people at a general election in 1956, for the purpose of acquiring and developing county parks, preserves, wildlife areas, forests, and other conservation areas and to encourage the wise management of their natural resources. The goal of the Howard County Conservation Board is to encourage awareness and enjoyment of natural resources by providing a better understanding of their environment. The HCCB provides the public with approximately 2000 acres and 35 county conservation managed areas, helping to conserve natural resources, preserve scenic sites, and discover outdoor recreation opportunities in Howard County https://howardcounty.iowa.gov/conservation/.
With their HOPE Program (Habitat Options & Planned Enhancement) initiative creating partnerships with state and federal agencies to acquire land, improve or maintain critical habitat for deer and other wildlife, and increase public hunting opportunities, Whitetail Unlimited’s support of the 80-acre public hunting acquisition of the Upper Iowa River Timber Habitat in Howard County, Iowa, helps build relationships and plays a vital role in wildlife conservation. Through conservation education, people develop the critical thinking skills they need to understand the complexities of ecological problems.
