Outdoor Magazine Radio and Host Take Broadcast Excellence Awards

Veteran outdoor journalist Mike Avery has received a "Broadcast Excellence Award" from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB).

Mike's syndicated "Outdoor Magazine" show received a Merit Award in the "Special Show Broadcast Personality" division of the 2009 competition.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the MAB" says Mike. "MAB is Michigan's premiere broadcast organization.

Outdoor Magazine is syndicated by the Michigan Radio Network, and currently carried on eighteen stations. The show is also available as a podcast on the internet.

"It's my goal to produce a quality show that promotes the history and tradition of hunting and fishing in Michigan", says Mike. "This award means we're on the right track."

Avery's entry featured a discussion about the opening day of deer season in the Great Lakes State and went on to examine the battle between hunters and those opposed to the sport.

Mike is also the host and producer of the award winning Outdoor Magazine television show seen nationally on Sportsman Channel and on broadcast stations in Michigan.
