Hunters encouraged to apply early for Arizona elk and pronghorn antelope hunts

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Game and Fish Department reminds hunters that the deadline to apply for 2015 elk and pronghorn antelope hunt permit-tags issued through the draw process is Feb. 10, 2015, by 7 p.m. (MST). Hunters can apply using the online service, or they can fill out and mail or hand deliver a paper application.

Applying online is fast and easy. Just visit https://az.gov/azgfd/draw/home.xhtml and scroll down to the "Apply for a Draw" link. The online process prompts you to complete your form accurately, dramatically reducing the chance of making errors that could result in a rejected application.

For those who choose not to use the online service, paper draw applications may be submitted either by mail to Arizona Game and Fish Department, Attn: Drawing Section, PO Box 74020, Phoenix, AZ 85087-1052, or they can be hand-delivered to any of the seven Game and Fish offices located in Pinetop, Flagstaff, Kingman, Yuma, Tucson, Mesa and Phoenix. A list of office addresses is at www.azgfd.gov/offices.

If you are mailing a paper application, keep in mind that the department must receive it by the deadline. Postmarks don't count.

You must have a hunting or combination hunting/fishing license that is valid as of the draw deadline date in order to apply for the draw. If you don't already have a license, you can purchase one either online, at Game and Fish offices, at license dealers, or through the draw application process when you are applying for the draw. Keep in mind that you must have a valid license when you are out in the field for your hunt, so if your license is valid as of the draw deadline date but expires before your hunt date, you will need to purchase a new license before going out on your hunt. Licenses are now valid for 365 days rather than just for the calendar year. Be sure to check the dates on your license.

The 2015 Pronghorn Antelope and Elk Hunt Draw Information booklet and application forms are available at Game and Fish offices, at license dealers, and online.
