American Fork, Utah – After more than 15 years and several expansions, Utah-based arrow maker Gold Tip has finally outgrown its Orem facility. Last month , Gold Tip and sister company Bee Stinger moved their manufacturing and business offices a few miles up the road to American Fork. A ribbon "cutting" ceremony was held on January 12 at the new location. Instead of using scissors, champion archer and Gold Tip National Shooting Staff Manager Tim Gillingham shot the ribbon in two with a Gold Tip arrow.
Gold Tip and Bee Stinger are brands of Vista Outdoor Inc., a worldwide leader in outdoor sports and recreation. Manufacturers of carbon arrows, shafts, crossbow bolts and archery stabilizers, they are two of the most recognizable and trusted archery brands on the tournament trail and in hunting. Vista Outdoor Chairman and CEO Mark DeYoung was the keynote speaker at the event. Vista Outdoor's corporate headquarters are located in Clearfield, Utah, and DeYoung spoke about the value of being based in a location where hunting and outdoor recreation are a part of the culture.
"Utah is a great state, with passionate outdoor enthusiasts and a talented workforce," DeYoung told the assembled employees, local business leaders, members of the mayor's office and media. "We value that passion. It drives innovation. It's great that we have employees who are excited to come to work every day."
This new facility is more than 28,000 square feet. It replaces an 18,000-square-foot facility that had been in operation since 2000. The additional space allows for expanded research and development, more efficient work flow and updated amenities for employees, including an employee archery range.
The facility also features new innovative technology that will increase production capability and produce arrows with superior fletching.
"I'm excited about this investment," DeYoung said. "I've made a commitment to grow our company, both through acquisitions and through investment in our brands.
The opening of this new facility is one way we're making that investment in our brands and making sure they remain competitive and innovative."
Gold Tip recently launched two exciting new arrows. The new Kinetic Pierce is the company's first micro-diameter hunting arrow. Available in two trims, Pierce and Pierce Platinum, the super-durable, wind-bucking arrow features a new Fusion X shield-cut vane. Ballistic Collars increase penetration, front-end durability and front-of-center balance, and the inserts are FACT weight system compatible. The company's new Nine.3 competition arrow answers consumer demand for a product that pushes the maximum allowable diameter for indoor FITA events, but is also durable enough to maintain pinpoint accuracy into the notorious, arrow-wrecking stramit targets used at these events.
