Iowa trappers can expect to find good numbers of furbearers statewide during the 2023-24 season, that began on Nov. 4.
TRAPPING
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is currently accepting bids for the 2022-2023 trapping season at several Wildlife Management Areas and other public lands.
Beaver and river otter trapping permits on managed areas for the 2022-23 season will be issued via in-person lotteries on Saturday, Oct. 8, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
After monitoring grizzly bear activity in the area, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks recommends opening Wolf Management Unit 121 for wolf trapping in northwest Montana. WMU 121 contains a portion of the Cabinet-Yaak Grizzly Bear Recovery Zone.
Nebraska’s first limited river otter harvest season opens Nov. 1, providing those with a valid fur harvest permit an opportunity to trap one otter per season.
The season for trapping and shooting of bobcats in Trapping District 2 in western Montana closed at midnight on the evening of Monday, February 15, 2021 due to the season ending.
The hunting of all mountain lions in western Montana hunting districts 202 and 203, which includes portions of Mineral and Missoula counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021.

If you harvested an otter during the 2019 trapping season you can now schedule an appointment at a DNR furbearer registration station to bring your otter in to be sealed.
