The Holmes County Ohio Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited recently awarded a $3,000 grant to the Lakes & Trails Youth Hunting and Fishing Camp located in Carrollton, Ohio. The camp was established in 2008 and focuses on teaching youth hunting and fishing skills. The camp also teaches it’s youth attendees canoeing, basic taxidermy, and primitive living.
The camp’s fishing program is a 5-year program that expands each year on skills learned. The first year emphasizes basic water safety and leads up to building fishing equipment such as rods and lures in year five. The hunting program is a similar 4-year program starting with hunter safety certification in year one and concluding with deer processing in year four.
