Portion of Tennessee River Closed to Vessels and Watercraft August 31 to September 1

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces that the waters on the Tennessee River at Mile Mark 333.3, approximately one-half mile on either side of the Highway 231 Bridge, will be closed to the operation of all vessels and watercraft from 6 a.m. on August 31, 2006, to 6 a.m. on September 1, 2006. This closure includes all commercial and recreational vessels and watercraft except for law enforcement vessels or other official emergency vessels and non-fishing commercial traffic.

The closure is due to a safety zone created by the U.S. Coast Guard because of a bridge demolition and salvage operations at this location.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama's natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
