
Mason Sobotka of Norris shot a perfect score, then survived a shoot-off with nine others who also broke all 75 targets at 16 yards Friday, May 1, to become individual champion at the 56th Cornhusker Trap Shoot at Doniphan.
Favorable conditions not only helped lead to 10 perfect scores but 57 scores of 73 or higher. On Saturday, May 2, competitors will shoot 75 handicap targets. The high school shooter with the highest combined score from the two days will earn the Cornhusker Cup trophy as the overall champion.
Among the many contenders is defending Cornhusker Cup champion Kahne Packer of Wilber 5 Clovers 4-H, who finished second Friday.
Cayla Peterson of Paxton won the ladies' title Friday with a 74. Norris One was the high school team champion, Wilber 5 Clovers took the 4-H team crown and the 4-H ladies' championship. Norris was the ladies' team winner.
