A native of Austin, Texas, Groos recently earned his master's degree in Wildlife, Aquatic, and Wildlands Science Management from Texas Tech University, where his graduate research focused on improving population monitoring and habitat management for native and exotic big game species in the Texas Hill Country. Prior to graduate school, he earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Oklahoma while competing as a collegiate football player.
