Williamsburg, KY – Muddy Bayou Archery hosted the first Tennessee S3DA Indoor Regional of the 2022-2023 competition season at the W. Clyde Hyder-Tommy Burks Agricultural Pavilion at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. This multipurpose facility operated by the School of Agriculture has collaborated a couple of times with Tennessee S3DA. As archers and their families arrived at the venue, you could see the excitement beaming as archers were anxious to begin shooting. Approximately 174 archers from sixteen S3DA teams met to compete in a record setting turnout for a Tennessee season-opening indoor event.
Tennessee S3DA State Coordinator, Robert Carter said, “We are excited to kick-off our 2023 tournament season by returning to the Hyder-Burks Ag Pavilion in Cookeville, Tennessee. In evaluating attendance at our 2022 indoor events, it was obvious that we needed to transition to venues that can accommodate a larger number of shooters and Hyder-Burks is a great fit. The spacious arena floor allows us to have as many as 90 archers per flight and the arena style seating is a crowd favorite. I want to say a very special “thank you” to Hank Cothron and everyone at the Muddy Bayou S3DA team who worked so hard to make this event successful. We saw an increase of 61 archers from last year’s Hyder-Burks event, and we are looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds.”
“What an amazing turnout for the 2023 indoor season kick-off! Over 160+ of the best archers in the state put on a great show for all in attendance. The hard work of the State Coordinator, Robert Carter, his staff, and Muddy Bayou Archery got the 2023 Tennessee S3DA season off to a great start!” stated Hank Cothron, Muddy Bayou Archery Coach.

About Scholastic 3-D Archery
Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic
3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
