With winter approaching, locations and hours of some activities at Spring Mill State Park have changed.
The park naturalist has moved from Lakeview Activity Center to Spring Mill Inn for the winter. Most hikes and activities will originate from the inn. The naturalist's office is near the game room.
Buildings in the Pioneer Village are mostly closed. Select buildings will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. — weather permitting — with the naturalist or event coordinator on site to answer questions. Village buildings will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 14.
The Virgil "I" Gus Grissom Memorial will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Stop by the Grissom Memorial Gift Shop for unique, hand-made items crafted in the Pioneer Village, or pick up a bag of cornmeal ground in the grist mill as well as many other souvenir items.
The last official park event of the season is Holiday in the Village, Dec. 4 and 5. For more information, email springmillstatepark@dnr.IN.gov or call (812) 849-3534.
