Alabama: PRADCO Employee Honored With Governor’s Award

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Justin Seaborn recently won the 2019 Large Business Employee of the Year award for the Birmingham Area Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.

Seaborn is a dedicated employee who works at PRADCO Outdoor Brands’ distribution center in Calera, Alabama. He began working at the distribution center in June of 2015 as a Warehouse Worker. Communication is a key aspect of working inside the 330,000 sq. ft. warehouse, and even though Seaborn is deaf and must use written and sign language to communicate, he has excelled in his role.

“He has always been eager to learn, willing to take on any work given and has always done so with a positive attitude and with a smile,” says Jeff Mauldin, PRADCO, Director of Distribution & Transportation.

However, what the leadership team noticed and valued most, was Seaborn’s work ethic. Recently, PRADCO’s leadership team was meeting with members of the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS), and they asked if they could help provide Seaborn and the team with training to enable him to grow into a larger role. Operating a forklift was the next logical move for Seaborn and the ADRS team ensured PRADCO that they had successfully trained members of the deaf community to operate a forklift. Today, Seaborn’s training is almost complete, and he will soon be a forklift operator.

Seaborn is also a recipient of the EBSCO 2019 Outstanding Team Members Award. PRADCO is a subsidiary of EBSCO Industries, Inc. He was one of a select group of team members throughout all the EBSCO family of companies who received the award.
