San Antonio, TX (June 24, 2022) – With a new college bass fishing season now underway, focus shifts to the 2022-23 season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series and the year-end National Championship. The 2023 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops is set to take place at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, SC with championship activities starting on May 22nd and wrapping up on May 26, 2023.
“We are looking forward to hosting the ACA Championship at Lake Hartwell, Green Pond Landing and Anderson County next year,” said Neil Paul, Executive Director – Visit Anderson. “Hosting the ACA Championship has been a goal of ours here in Anderson County for several years now. The opportunity to share our Green Pond Landing, a nationally recognized facility, with the anglers and staff of the ACA is very exciting for our community which has been tremendously supportive of fishing here in Anderson County.”
Lake Hartwell is a fishery that has become nationally known for hosting top-level events every year. This includes the Bassmaster Classic, TBF High School World Finals, and many more major professional tournaments. The 2023 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops will mark the first time the Association of Collegiate Anglers has contested an event at Lake Hartwell.
“The college angler represents a demographic that includes the tournament angler of tomorrow, both professionally and recreationally, and we are looking forward to welcoming those anglers to our community for what promises to be a memorable week,” added Paul.
Championship Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year in all of collegiate bass fishing. From the Yamaha Angler Appreciation event on Tuesday, to the Angler & Sponsor Banquet Wednesday, and both days of tournament competition on Thursday and Friday, anglers are treated to a week full of festivities and a top-notch Championship experience.
“We’re excited to be visiting Lake Hartwell for the first time, but this certainly isn’t the first time this famed fishery has been in the national spotlight. What’s been created in that area to support bass fishing is a testament to the hard work of a community and staff that understands the value of bass fishing events. We can’t wait to be there, and the college anglers will be treated to a first class experience,” noted Wade Middleton, Director of Association of Collegiate Anglers.
About the ACA
The Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA), a division of CarecoTV, is a tournament organization created to facilitate growth, development, and structure within competitive collegiate bass fishing. The ACA created the original BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Series,17 seasons ago, which has evolved into the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series which is now recognized as the longest-running consecutive collegiate bass fishing series in existence. The ACA also provides support to dozens of smaller schools operating regional events nationwide which help to grow the exposure of college fishing. The ACA owns the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia Program, and associated assets. The ACA lineup of major college fishing events includes a variety of events nationwide that are multi-day events all of which are televised on several networks as well as streamed on a variety of connected platforms.
Thanks in part to the large diversity of media exposure the ACA provides the largest amount of televised and streaming coverage of any collegiate fishing series to include a dedicated television series on several television networks as well as additional coverage of select events inside other programs. This combination includes coverage from Discovery Channel, CBS Sports, NBC, Pursuit Channel, as well as other regional and national networks.
