The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Extravaganza brings in the top competitors and their trained horses for the largest competition and showcase east of the Mississippi. Mounted Shooting is a combination of barrel racing and six-gun shooting, with black powder blanks, to run a course of balloon targets for speed and accuracy. In this sport, the horse is as much a competitor as the rider, especially when shooting lever action rifles at full speed.
