The R3 community has talked about locavores for years, but how do you recruit and train those interested in hunting and fishing as a way to obtain healthy, organic protein from the wild?
Though a Multistate Grant, The Association for Conservation Information (ACI) has worked with the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports (CAHSS), Archery Trade Association (ATA), Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, National Deer Association (NDA), and DJ Case & Associates to offer a simple and easy-to-navigate self-guided Locavore Workshop. It’s the perfect place to begin or enhance your state’s effort to attract, train, and retain locavores as hunting and fishing license buyers.
What will be covered?

Through a series of interactive exercises, you will discover what locavores need to successfully adopt hunting and angling and how to make your existing hunting and angling education resources more locavore friendly. These exercises will then be compiled into your very own locavore marketing plan that you can use to implement your program.
With our help, you’ll make significant progress toward having a locavore program up and running in your state.
“This is one of the most relevant R3 programs available. 2021 research shows 38% of today’s hunter education graduates can be considered locavores, and the number one topic graduates want to learn more about is taking care of their harvest.”
How does it work?
Everyone has a busy schedule, so figuring out how to attend an online workshop is no easy task. That’s why we have made our self-guided workshop simple and easy-to-navigate. Simply click through the topics, watch the presentations, and complete the provided exercises. Everything can be done at your own pace to avoid taking up too much of your valuable time!
Our workshop gets the best of both worlds: You can watch the pre-recorded presentations at your leisure AND attend any of our live Q&A sessions to have your questions answered. Can’t make the Q&A session? No worries. A recording will be posted on the respective lesson pages afterwards.
In addition, each lesson walks you through the given exercises to help you in the process of planning and implementing your locavore program. Once finished, these exercises will be compiled into your very own marketing plan.
The schedule for the live Q&A sessions can be found below:
