Gregory, South Dakota - Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) hosted a mix of active-duty and Marine Corps veterans for a pheasant hunt for the 10th year at the Buffalo Butte Ranch in Gregory, South Dakota.

Nine Marines and one Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman, who served extensively, experienced a pheasant shoot for two days at the world class Buffalo Butte Ranch. The Marines spanned a wide range of the rank structure from Lance Corporal to Colonel, but camaraderie in the pheasant field knows no rank and bragging rights go to those who bag the birds! The group shot very well and brought down many birds over the two days of hunting.

Heath Gunns, HAVA’s event coordinator, a former Marine himself, was again impressed by the tight-knit Marine community. “One of these Marines recently retired and invited the Marine who recruited him into the service so many years ago. I just don’t see that type of life-long connection in other career fields.”

Buffalo Butte Ranch is a 6,000 acre privately owned and operated pheasant farm which has been a family-owned ranch for five generations.
