A Crossbow Education Instructor training session was recently held to prepare Ohio 4-H instructors to teach Level 2 4-H Leaders. These Level 2 Leaders will teach 4-H member students Crossbow Safety which is offered in addition to a variety of shooting sports in the Ohio 4-H Program.
The two dozen training session attendees were certified as International Crossbow Education Program Instructors and had received their ICEP certification online prior to the session utilizing crossbow-ed.com.
“Our friends in Ohio have been especially proactive in efforts to prevent or reduce hunting incidents through their 4-H shooting sports program. Hundreds of members have enrolled in the Crossbow program since the program’s start in 2018,” stated NBEF Executive Director Marilyn Bentz. “We were fortunate to have Barb Terry, the Training and Education Coordinator for TenPoint Crossbows, as well as NBEF Board member, as our guest presenter. Participants were able to participate in a hands-on exercise at the TenPoint pro shop as well as shoot all models of TenPoint crossbows.”
“This fantastic crossbow class was a great experience with valuable information that will not only strengthen us as instructors but also better ourselves for the kids in our communities. Ohio 4-H shooting sports believe in quality education, commitment to our craft and the preservation of time-honored traditions,” shared Ohio 4-H Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development Caitlyn Romshak. “The NBEF program embraces that and more. We’re excited to continue educating our people with the sound foundation that your course has laid for us. We are very thankful.”
