Whitetails Unlimited issued 457 grants totaling more than $600,000 fostering their DEER (Developing Educational and Environmental Resources) Program this past year. The DEER Program consists of organizational initiatives and activities that facilitate the introduction of youth and their families to the great outdoors. This includes events, activities, and education elements that expose participants to conservation, fishing, hunting, shooting, wildlife management, and environmental education.
Education is a top priority for Whitetails Unlimited. As a strong advocate and supporter of hunter safety and hands-on instruction, they are at the forefront of providing state hunter education instructor associations with the necessary teaching aids to train our nation’s youth.
“It’s no surprise that our DEER Program is one of our strongest programs,” says Whitetails Unlimited Program Services Director Russ Austad. “Safe and ethically hunting should be the first things you are thinking about before heading into the woods.”
