Missouri's Hunter Ridge Ranch and American Deer & Wildlife Alliance Host Youth Camp

CAMDENTON, Mo. - One of the hunting industry's best kept secrets, Hunter Ridge Ranch recently turned over its lodge, lake and landscape to eight young, enthusiastic sportsmen for the First Annual Backwoods Adventure Youth Camp. The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) helped coordinate the three-day event which hosted four boys and four girls to fishing, swimming, exotic photo safari and hiking, as well as educational opportunities such as turkey calling, taxidermy, Native American crafts, and antler scoring.

"Hunters and sportsmen know that wildlife conservation and land stewardship must be taught and passed down to future generations, so we were happy to host the camp at Hunter Ridge Ranch," says Oscar Hunter, owner of Hunter Ridge Ranch. "Our youth need to receive fun and memorable outdoor experiences so they will develop a stronger connection and appreciation for nature. I think the exotic animals and the lake we have on our ranch made for a great location. The staff and I had a great time."

All of the children received complimentary back packs full of donated supplies and gifts they received throughout the week including arrow head necklaces they made, fishing rods, tackle boxes, turkey calls, as well as the survival necessities like compasses and ADWA water bottles.

"We were up early and ran hard all day long," says ADWA Regional Director Cody Ryan Greaney. "The Hunter Ridge Ranch made for a perfect summer camp setting and the wildlife opportunities were abundant for these kids. All of the staff at the ranch made a special impression on each child and everyone is already excited about the possibilities for next year."

The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is a non-profit organization working to promote the deer and wildlife industry and to preserve our American outdoor traditions. As a part of its public education efforts, ADWA produces Points Journal, a full-color magazine covering industry news, wildlife management issues, products and services; Spikes Magazine, a quarterly youth publication; and www.iHuntAmerica.comwebsite, a comprehensive search engine for hunting ranches, game preserves and outfitters. ADWA also sponsors the Outdoor Patriot (www.OutdoorPatriot.com), a monthly podcast which features commentary and industry guests.
