Chapter to elevate quail conservation efforts in Enid area, next meeting on May 29
Enid, Okla. – Quail hunters in Oklahoma have added another chapter of Quail Forever in the state’s northern region. Officially known as the Plainsmen Chapter of Quail Forever, the new committee is building its presence in the Enid, Okla. area with hopes of increasing bobwhite quail numbers through local habitat improvements.
“We are excited to announce the start of our new Plainsmen Quail Forever chapter in Enid,” said chapter president Chris Lee. “The primary objective of our chapter is the conservation and support of the bobwhite quail in Oklahoma, particularly in the northwestern quadrant of the state. We have received a strong community response in just the few weeks our chapter has been organized. In addition to conservation efforts and habitat projects, our chapter seeks to provide opportunities for youth in the outdoors, as they are the future of wildlife conservation in Oklahoma. I strongly encourage anyone interested in helping us achieve these goals to attend our local chapter meetings. Quail hunting has always been a fixture of Oklahoma's past and we want to give our best effort to preserve this rich tradition for years to come.”
“I’m thrilled that we have a new Quail Forever chapter in the northwest part of the state in the heart of Oklahoma quail country,” said Laura McIver, regional field representative for Quail Forever in Oklahoma. “The new members of this chapter are very excited and want to help area landowners do good things for the birds. There’s a lot of excellent habitat potential in that part of the state and the Plainsmen chapter of Quail Forever is going to be very proactive in educating people on the Quail Forever mission and helping put habitat projects on the ground.”
