Team Mathews Breaks Compound Qualification World Record

Sparta, Wisconsin – The 2026 Gator Cup once again proved to be one of the most competitive events in target archery, drawing more than 800 archers to the Easton Newberry Archery Center for a key stop on the USA Archery USAT Series.

Competing against a stout competition field, Team Mathews produced standout performances and podium finishes across multiple divisions.

The event was highlighted by a historic qualification round from Team Shooter Jimmy Lutz, who set a new 72-arrow 50-meter compound world record with a score of 719 out of a possible 720. While Lutz ultimately finished second in the Compound Men's division, his performance will etch his name into the archery world record books.

Joining Lutz on the podium was teammate Kyle Douglas, who secured a third-place finish in the same division, further underscoring this historic event for Team Mathews and USA Archery.

Stacking onto the weekend's success, Team Shooter Olivia Dean delivered a commanding performance to claim the Compound Women's title, adding another major win to an already impressive season.

"Jimmy's record-setting round is a testament to just how high the bar has been raised in our sport right now," said Derek Phillips, Mathews Prostaff Manager. "To see a performance like that—combined with multiple podium finishes from our team, including strong showings in both the men's and women's divisions - speaks volumes about the level our athletes are competing at and the consistency they're delivering on the biggest stages."
