California DFG Will Conduct Wild Turkey Clinic

The California Department of Fish and Game and the National Wild Turkey Federation's (NWTF) Foothill Bearded Flyers Chapter and Bass Pro Shops of Manteca will sponsor a Wild Turkey hunting clinic on February 13th, at the Bass Pro Shops in Manteca. The clinic starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. The clinic is free but space is limited.

The clinic will provide information on hunting turkeys during winter and fall hunting seasons. Topics covered are hunting regulations, huntable lands, proper types of firearms and ammunition used for turkey hunting, proper clothing, habits and habitats of wild turkey. Other topics include turkey hunting safety, hunter responsibilities and ethics, game care and cooking. All skill levels are welcome to attend.

Instructors for the clinic are Dr. Jim Oates, Robert Crawford and Tom Dockter. Oates and Crawford are NWTF State Chapter past Presidents and veteran turkey hunters.

Dockter is California NWTF State Chapter Board Member and President of the NWTF Foothill Bearded Flyers Chapter. He is a also member of Bass Pro Shop's Hunting Pro Staff.

Participants can register online at www.dfg.ca.gov/huntered/advanced or request a registration form by mail by calling (916) 358-4356. Once registered, participants will be provided with a workshop agenda, a map to the facility and a list of items to bring.
