Hancock, Rhode Take Gold Again in the ISSF World Cup Series

(Accokeek, MD) May 3, 2018 Vincent Hancock and Kim Rhode, Olympic champions and Team Beretta shooters, recently won gold at Stage 2 of the 2018 ISSF World Cup Series. With last weekend’s stellar performances, Hancock and Rhode have now won nine and twelve World Cup gold medals, respectively.

Both Rhode and Hancock were fresh off back-to-back wins at Stage 1 of the ISSF World Cup Series and the spring qualifying match for the 2018 World Championship team.

Hancock started the competition with an excellent qualification round as he missed only 2 targets out of 125 to top the leader board going into the final round.

“It’s [was] a great match,” Hancock said, in an interview with ISSF after the medal ceremony. “All worked well in the final, I just had to change my lenses a couple of times because of the clouds coming in and out. The plan is to be the best shooter at every competition, on every station, on every target, right up to when it will matter the most, Tokyo 2020.”

With a near perfect final performance, Hancock topped the podium after hitting 59 out of 60 clays, which equaled the current world record set forth last year by Italy’s Riccardo Filippelli and Great Britain’s Ben Llewellin.

Hancock recently switched from a standard DT11 Skeet shotgun to the new DT11 Skeet Black, and his recent competition wins prove that he has once again found his champion grove.

In comparison, Rhode had a bit more of a rocky start for her qualification round. After missing a few targets on 3 out 5 stations, Rhode qualified for the final round sitting in fourth place.

However, Rhode was able to put this rocky start behind her as new ISSF rules state that the qualification round scores do not carry over and focused on the final round, which consisted of 60 targets.

In true Olympic champion fashion, Rhode broke her own World Record as she smashed 58 targets to top the podium once again.

Both Hancock and Rhode will be competing as a part of the U.S. Skeet Team at the upcoming 2018 ISSF World Championships from August 31 to September 14, 2018 in Changwon, Korea.
